Richard Wakelin, Director, Business Development and co-founder, has over 30 years experience in residential property. After working in property management, he went on to gain comprehensive experience in residential and commercial property. Early in his career, Richard identified a growing need among residential property purchasers for independent advice and representation. “The property industry was and still is very much geared towards representing sellers,” Richard says. By the early 1980’s, Richard was working with organisations that were developing specialist property acquisition and investment advisory services. In March 1995, he co-founded Wakelin Property Advisory – one of the first fully independent and comprehensive residential property advisory companies – with Monique Sasson Wakelin. Richard holds an Advanced Certificate in Real Estate and is a Member of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria.
Monique Sasson Wakelin, Director, Media and Communications and co-Founder, heads our research, analysis and communications functions. Her professional career includes senior roles in corporate communications, property and research. Monique advises clients on property acquisition and she also develops and co-presents our public education program. She appears in the country’s best known print, electronic and on-line media including The Australian, The Age, The Herald Sun, The Financial Review, The Bulletin, Money Magazine, Australian Property Investor, A Current Affair and The 7.30 Report. Monique's insightful weekly contributions to noted finance commentator, Alan Kohler’s on-line publication The Eureka Report not only keeps property investors abreast of the market, but also seeks to explore issues crucial to the property industry and investors. Her Saturday property talkback segments on 774ABC draw a large audience from throughout Victoria, Tasmania and southern NSW. Monique holds a Bachelor of Education, is a Director of the Australian Scholarships Group Friendly Society Ltd, a Member of The Public Relations Institute of Australia, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Representative Member of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria.
Paul Nugent, Director, Property Advisory, oversees our property advisory division. Paul is a highly skilled negotiator with over 20 years experience in all aspects of residential property and related fields, primarily in management and strategic roles. Paul’s main business objective is to help property investors and homebuyers filter the mass of often confusing information available to them and to navigate their way through an increasingly complex transaction and negotiation process. His additional experience in commercial property, town planning, residential property management and body corporate management adds to the depth of the company’s expertise. Paul holds an Advanced Certificate in Real Estate and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University. Paul is a Member of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria.
